Teams pop-outs improve dual-monitor functionality for users. With more background effects and increased accessibility options on the web.
Microsoft continues to improve its video conferencing tool. It is working on an upgrade that will include the option to open shared meeting material in a new window.
The company has provided none little to no information on the new feature, only that users would be able to pop out shared content into a separate window.
This week, the upgrade was added to the Microsoft 365 product roadmap. It will be available to Teams members in August. The new update will be available on both the collaboration platform’s online and desktop client versions, including Windows and macOS.

In recent years, hybrid working routines have seen us turn to video conferencing platforms. From completing our daily tasks to leading in business meetings to working on projects we all need Teams.
The upcoming feature will function similarly to how users usually open Teams chats in a separate window.
We think that this change will benefit users who use several business monitors. It will allow participants to observe the meeting attendees, check shared files and chat streams, and read the content provided by presenters simultaneously.
Another useful update is that Team users on the web will be able to follow along with meetings in real-time using CART – Communication Access Realtime Translation. It is captioning inside the Teams window. There is also an additional feature to getting access to backdrop effects.
Previously, CART captions opened in a different window, making it more difficult to see call participants and live transcriptions at the same time.
In addition, additional languages have been added to live captioning, as well as speaker attribution in Teams online. Microsoft is now supporting 27 languages, including Brazilian Portuguese, Japanese, and Hindi. The company expects it will increase meeting involvement.
Live transcription is available in a far broader variety of languages. Participants who are deaf or hard of hearing, as well as those with poor language competence, will benefit from this accessibility tool.
Another feature that most of us will appreciate is that late attendees to the call or absentees can catch up on previous discussions using the live transcription feature.
Microsoft 365 productivity tool is the company’s prized possession. It is revered by the company as well as users. Whenever Microsoft rolls out updates on Teams it is often well thought out and appreciated by users. These features will be available by the end of July. I am hopeful Microsoft will not disappoint us this time either.
