Tech companies made their cloud services more interconnected.

Thanks to a new agreement between the two businesses, Oracle Cloud users will be able to provision, access, and monitor their databases without leaving their Microsoft Azure dashboard.

Users may migrate or create new applications on Azure using the new Oracle Database Service tool. Then connect to managed Oracle Database services such as Autonomous Database that operate on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).

The latest collaboration might help businesses avoid the traditional entering and exiting associated with transporting data between workloads.

Oracle confirms that customers will not be charged for using the new service. They will also enjoy free underlying network connectivity, data outflow, or data ingress between Azure and OCI.

It is possible, that customers will only be charged for the Azure or Oracle services that they use, such as Azure Synapse or Oracle Autonomous Database.

Oracle executive vice president claims that it’s a common misconception that you can’t run real applications across two clouds. With the ability to easily test and demonstrate the value of combining Oracle databases with Azure applications, the myth is now busted for Oracle and Microsoft customers.

There is no requirement for deep knowledge of either platforms or sophisticated configurations. Anyone can utilize the Azure Portal to leverage the power of two clouds together.

This isn’t the first time the cloud hosting titans have collaborated. In 2019, Oracle and Microsoft collaborated to launch the Oracle Interconnect for Microsoft Azure. The current release is being hailed as an extension of the prior collaboration.

This service will initially be confined to 11 sites across the world. All of which are in more metropolitan areas where Oracle and Microsoft’s data centers are physically close together.

Unfortunately for clients in more rural places as of now they don’t have access to this service.

If you join up, you’ll be in good company, since Oracle claims inaugural clients for the service include FedEx, Marriott International, AT&T, and General Electric.
